Identifying Dynamical Modules in Boolean Network Models Modularity has been a focus of intense interest in the study of complex systems, especially in biological contexts. Starting from dynamical Boolean network models, we formalize a statistical notion of modularity, and show how model selection methods can be used to detect its presence and identify weakly-coupled modules. We apply our approach to several Boolean network models of real-world biological systems. |
